Photos: EVN mobilizes workforces to overcome power grid failures right after Typhoon No.10

The power grids in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces were seriously damaged after Typhoon No.10 (Doksuri) hit the mainland from the noon on September 15, 2017, directly affecting these two provinces. As soon as the storm passed, Vietnam Electricity, the Northern Power Corporation and the Central Power Corporation together with local power companies have mobilized their workforces to urgently remedy failures in order to restore electricity supply to the people in the earliest manner.

The strong typhoon caused many incidents on distribution grids and widespread power outages in the eye of the storm in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces; at the same time, the power supply in the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai was considerably affected. 

Immediately after the storm abated, technicians were in the field. By 6:00 am on September 16, 2017, power companies finished their remedial works and electricity was resupplied to some severely affected areas including: Dong Hoi city center - Quang Binh province, central areas of cities, districts of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. With careful preparation of the power industry before the storm, human resources, materials and equipment were promptly mobilized to remedy failures. In particular, the central areas of provinces, districts and towns were prioritized by the power sector to be restored first. The Steering Committee of Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of EVN was also present at the scene immediately after the storm to inspect and encourage staffs of EVN’s subsidiaries in the province and directly instructed the remedy. The power industry took advantage of every hour, minute to restore the grid. The photo was taken at 10 am on September 16, 2017 in Ky Anh Town, Ha Tinh Province - one of the most severely damaged areas in the Typhoon No. 10. Mr. Ha Minh Dong - Deputy Director of Ky Anh Power Department (under Ha Tinh Power Company) said power would be supplied back to important loads of the town on September 16, 2017
