Contributing to ensuring national energy security

The achievement of such remarkable results is attributed to the determination and relentless efforts of the leadership team, along with engineers, technicians, workers, and employees of the plant over the years. Currently, the plant boasts a professionally trained technical operation team with high expertise, managing and operating three advanced technology coal-fired power units (3 x 600MW), with equipment primarily sourced from Japan, South Korea, and G7 countries, operating automatically through an advanced control system with high efficiency, providing a competitive edge in the competitive electricity market. Previously, the plant brought the three units into operation according to the following schedule: the first unit on December 6, 2017; the second unit on March 31, 2018; and the third unit on October 5, 2019.

After more than six years of operation and development, the plant has comprehensively implemented measures to ensure national energy security based on dispatching orders from the National Load Dispatch Center (A0). It has contributed over VND 4,775 trillion to the state budget, ensured the material and spiritual well-being of its employees, and provided stable jobs and income for local employees who account for over 40% of the workforce of the plant. Additionally, the plant has actively engaged in social welfare activities in Tuy Phong District (Binh Thuan Province), where the plant is located, and at its office in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City (Ninh Thuan Province) over the years.

Proactive fuel supply

A leader of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant shared: "Over the past years, in the context of constant price fluctuations in the international coal market, the plant has been directed to have a stable coal supply plan, based on the total volume of contracts signed for each year. Coal balancing was done flexibly on a monthly basis and the actual inventory in the year. In addition, the power units were overhauled as planned, ensuring the power units operated stably in the last months of the year; with a high availability factor. The power plant also reduced coal heat loss, according to targets assigned by EVN.

During the generation process, engineers and workers proactively reviewed and refined operational processes to better meet the requirements of these routine activities. Moreover, the plant implemented digital transformation in various aspects of management, effectively leveraging tools and software applications to enhance labor productivity. Laborers consistently innovated and applied technical initiatives in their respective fields, delivering higher efficiency and productivity.

At the same time, Vinh Tan 4 proactively excelled in environmental management, improving solutions to enhance readiness to address potential environmental incidents. The plant also partnered with stakeholders to promote annual coal ash and slag consumption. The plant fully implemented policies to ensure the well-being of its employees. All employees fostered internal unity to enhance the plant’s operational efficiency.

Thanks to that, over the past 6 years, the plant has been operating safely, achieving a total output of more than 50 billion kWh, meeting the plan assigned by EVN, responding all dispatching requests from the National Power Dispatch Center (A0).

Striving to complete the New Year's tasks

Recently, during the conference to review the Party performance at Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant, Mr. Vo Hong Linh, Member of the Party Executive Committee, Member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant in implementing tasks in 2024, achieving good results in all aspects of the Party work, production and business, with an electricity output reaching 8,449 million kWh; creating a premise for the plant to successfully complete its tasks in 2025.
