To achieve GDP growth of 8% or higher in 2025, as outlined in Government Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP, EVN projects that electricity demand will increase by 12-13% compared to that of 2024. According to EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan, this presents a significant challenge for EVN and the entire power sector in ensuring sufficient power supply in 2025 and the coming years.

According to the EVN President and CEO, to realize the Government’s assigned targets, EVN has actively and proactively implemented key tasks and solutions.

In power generation and supply, EVN has mobilized all available resources to ensure reliability, readiness, and synchronization across all stages: power generation, procurement, imports, transmission, and distribution, determined to fulfill the political mission at the highest level by ensuring sufficient power supply for socio-economic development and people's livelihoods, as well as providing a safe and stable power for Party Congresses at all levels and major political and social events in 2025. EVN has also proactively developed and is ready with power supply plans in case electricity demand in 2025 grows by 12-13%, in line with the national growth target of 8% or higher. Additionally, EVN makes the utmost effort to collaborate with state-owned corporations to secure sufficient coal and gas fuel for power generation, proactively implement solutions to prevent fuel shortages, enforce strict operational discipline, ensure sufficient spare materials and equipment, maximize availability, and maintain a stable and reliable operation, especially during the peak dry months of 2025.

EVN President and CEO also affirmed: “EVN has upheld the highest sense of responsibility, mobilizing the entire political system and concentrating all resources to accelerate and promptly complete power projects while ensuring quality.” Accordingly, EVN strives to complete 253 power grid projects ranging from 110kV to 500kV to enhance the capacity of the transmission and distribution infrastructure, meeting the development needs of localities; aims to complete key projects such as the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion (2 units, 480MW), synchronize Unit 1 of the Quang Trach I Hydropower Plant with the grid, and complete major transmission lines: the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV line, the Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuong Tin 500/220kV line, and the power supply project for Con Dao district.

Regarding thrift practice, waste prevention, and the fight against negativity and corruption, EVN has vigorously and comprehensively implemented tasks and solutions to practice thrift and prevent wastefulness in each unit to create a strong ripple effect, turning it into a voluntary and conscious action for every official, party member, and employee. Additionally, strict measures are in place to handle individuals and collectives—especially unit leaders—who cause losses or waste.

Furthermore, EVN is also expeditiously finalizing the plan to restructure and streamline the organizational apparatus of its units in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017, of the 12th Central Committee; continues to comprehensively reform and restructure the organizational system of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to ensure a lean, effective, and efficient operation.

In strengthening scientific and technological research and development, innovation, and digital transformation, EVN has implemented the Government’s Action Program to carry out Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on breakthrough developments in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. EVN is actively implementing key tasks, digital transformation programs, and initiatives in science, technology, and innovation closely linked to its business operations, delivering practical efficiency.

Regarding the long-term goals set for 2030, EVN's President and CEO highlighted key focus areas, including building and developing EVN into a smart and sustainable enterprise based on comprehensive digital transformation, leading in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the power sector; developing digital infrastructure and technology based on modern, synchronized, secure, and efficient principles; establishing specialized industry databases and data center of the power sector; and ensuring cybersecurity and information security.
