EVN joins delegation of Steering Committee for Project “Communication on the Policy and Tasks for Nuclear Power Development” to work with Ninh Thuan Province

On the afternoon of April 24, in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, the working delegation of the Steering Committee for the Project "Communication on the Policy and Tasks for Nuclear Power Development", led by Comrade Huynh Thanh Dat – Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilization, and Head of the Project Steering Committee – held a working session with Ninh Thuan Province.

Participating in the delegation, representing EVN, were Comrade Dang Huy Cuong – Member of the Standing Committee of the EVN Party Committee, Member of the EVN Board of Directors, and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Construction of Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant; and Comrade Trinh Mai Phuong – Member of the Standing Committee of the EVN Party Committee, Head of the Party Committee's Commission for Information and Education, Head of EVN's Communications Department, and Member of the Steering Committee for the Construction of Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant.

At the meeting, the delegation listened to a briefing from leaders of the Ninh Thuan Provincial Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilization on the implementation of communication tasks regarding the national nuclear power development policy and the Ninh Thuan nuclear power projects in recent times.
Accordingly, the Ninh Thuan Provincial Commission developed a detailed plan, assigned and deployed staff, collaborators, and communication officers assigned to specific local areas to closely monitor public opinion trends and promptly advise local authorities on appropriate measures to guide public opinion.

Through distributing survey forms and directly collecting public opinion, the majority of respondents expressed their support for the policy, believing that the development of nuclear power would bring several key benefits such as ensuring national energy security (72%) and providing a stable, low-carbon, green, and clean energy source (57%), among others. They also recognized the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project as an important driving force for the province's economic development, opening up opportunities to build Ninh Thuan into a “green and clean industrial center,” enhancing its competitiveness and creating a sustainable and prosperous development environment for the province in the future. People expressed a strong desire for the investment and construction of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant to proceed on schedule and according to the set plans.

Also at the working session, Comrade Dang Huy Cuong – Member of the Standing Committee of EVN's Party Committee, Member of EVN’s Board of Directors, and Deputy Head of EVN’s Steering Committee for the Construction of Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant – shared his views on the human resources development for nuclear power as well as development zone planning for these projects.

In his remarks at the session, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dat – Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilization and Head of the Steering Committee for the Project “Communication on the Policy and Tasks for Nuclear Power Development” – emphasized that the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project is a national key project, receiving special attention and strong direction from the leadership of the Party, the National Assembly, and the Government, with an urgent requirement for progress in implementation.
