The Green Solutions discussed and proposed cooperation opportunities with EVN in supplying ammonia fuel for coal-fired thermal power plants in EVN. The Group is developing the first green hydrogen production plant project in Vietnam, in Tra Vinh province, with an expected output of about 182,500 tons of green ammonia/year.
Vice President Ngo Son Hai welcomed the cooperation proposal of The Green Solutions. Also, according to Vice President Ngo Son Hai, EVN has directed its affiliated units to research and develop fuel conversion projects in association with Power Plan VIII, including the Pha Lai 1 and 2 Thermal Power Plants under EVNGENCO2.
The two sides also discussed and clarified a number of issues related to the mechanism for plants using alternative fuels such as the capacity to supply fuel sources in the long term, electricity prices, the mechanism for mobilizing plants when participating in the electricity market, the plan to transport domestic ammonia to power plants, etc. According to the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII) approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 500/QD-TTg dated May 15, 2023, Vietnam will not build new coal-fired thermal power plants after 2030 and gas-fired power plants after 2035 anymore to ensure carbon emission reduction and the commitment target at COP 26 on carbon neutrality (net-zero carbon emissions) by 2050.
