On morning of January 23 in Hanoi, EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan works with EVNNPC leadership on investment and construction activity results in 2025 and key tasks and solutions for 2026.
According to the plan assigned by EVN, in 2026, EVNNPC will commence construction of 81 power grid projects at the 110–220kV levels and energize 90 projects. The corporation targets an additional approximately 2,600MVA of transformer capacity at 110kV substations. In particular, to timely meet the peak load demand in the summer of 2026 in the Northern region, an increase of 1,300–1,500MVA is required by the second quarter of 2026.
Regarding the deployment of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), EVNNPC plans to install BESS with a total capacity of 530MW. Phase 1 will implement 305MW/610MWh, with completion targeted in Q2/2026. Phase 2, with a capacity of 225MW, is under investment preparation, aiming for full completion in Q4/2026–Q1/2027, contributing to enhanced flexibility and operational stability of the power system.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien, General Director of EVNNPC, investment and construction will continue to be the corporation’s key mission in 2026. EVNNPC will focus on completing 110kV–220kV grid projects on schedule, as well as medium- and low-voltage works to prevent overloads, reduce power losses, and improve the reliability of electricity supply. The corporation aims to implement large-scale investment plans while ensuring balanced capital sources, improving the quality of investment preparation, tightening the schedule and quality management, and accelerating the application of digital transformation in investment and construction management.

EVNNPC General Director Nguyen Duc Thien reports at working session with EVN President and CEO on morning of January 23
In particular, EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan requested that resources be concentrated on urgent projects that are critical to power supply security. At the same time, EVNNPC needs to continue reviewing and upgrading technical standards of the power grid, enhancing resilience to natural disasters, and promoting the application of technology and digital transformation in investment management.
In 2025, EVNNPC completed the commencement of 77 projects and the energization of 101 110kV–220kV grid projects in line with EVN’s assigned targets, adding a total of 3,142MVA at 110kV substations, 470km of 110kV transmission lines, and one 220kV substation with a capacity of 500MVA. By the end of 2025, the total capacity of 110kV substations under EVNNPC’s management reached 39,100MVA, making an important contribution to the safe and reliable operation of the power system.
