Promoting sustainable energy use

In recent years, Binh Duong has attracted many solar power projects of various scales, from small rooftop solar power systems to large solar power farms. These projects involve not only businesses but also households. This shows the increasing interest and awareness of people about the benefits of renewable energy.

Mr. Phan Thanh Lam, Chairman of the Binh Duong Renewable Energy Association, said that currently, advanced photovoltaic technologies in coordination with energy storage systems (BESS) are constantly improving efficiency and optimizing costs. New generation solar power is not only for households but also suitable for commercial models and industrial factories. Notably, the installation costs of these systems have been significantly reduced, helping many people easily access clean energy.

At the workshop "Next Generation Solar Power" organized by the Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Binh Duong Renewable Energy Association recently, experts continued to affirm that with advanced technology, new generation solar power operates based on the principle of converting sunlight into electricity, using photovoltaic systems and inverters. Energy redundancy can be stored in batteries when used at night or needed. This system brings many outstanding benefits, such as: Reducing dependence on the national grid, saving costs, supplying a stable power source, and ensuring energy security. This is not only an economic solution but also contributes to reducing pressure on the national power system. The workshop also introduced many attractive business opportunities in the field of new energy economy, such as the price difference business model with BESS, and the smart electric vehicle charging station model integrating solar energy. These advances not only promote sustainable development but also contribute to building Binh Duong into a modern renewable energy center of the country.

Developing potential effectively

According to the Binh Duong Provincial Planning from 2021 to 2030, with a vision to 2050, the target of developing grid-connected rooftop solar power is 185MW. For industrial parks, the demand for self-produced and consumed solar power in coordination with energy storage systems is expected to reach 3,200MW by 2030 and increase to 5,359MW by 2050. In addition to industrial parks, small businesses, and households also have the potential to develop solar power with a capacity of 3,200MW by 2030.

Supporting policies from the Government, such as Decree No. 80/2024/ND-CP on the direct electricity trading mechanism or Decree No. 135/2024/ND-CP stipulating mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of self-produced and consumed solar power, are creating favorable conditions for the boom in rooftop solar power. The Department of Industry and Trade is submitting to the Provincial People's Committee to issue the necessary administrative procedures to implement these policies.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the development of new-generation solar power not only meets the renewable energy target but also contributes to promoting Binh Duong to become a green and sustainable economic center. Binh Duong also focuses on building a system of electric charging stations to support the development of green transportation.
