Energization of Gia Loc 220kV substation and connection line

14:54, 14/10/2025

On the evening of October 13, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPMB), in coordination with relevant units, successfully energized the Gia Loc 220kV Substation and its 220kV connection line.

The energization of this project is a practical action by EVNNPT and NPMB to celebrate the success of the first Party Congress of the Party Committee of the Government for the 2025–2030 term, held on October 12–13, 2025.

The Gia Loc 220kV Substation and its connection line project is invested by EVNNPT, managed and implemented by the Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPMB), and will be handed over to Power Transmission Company No.1 for operation.

The Gia Loc 220kV Substation is located in Gia Loc Commune, Hai Phong City (formerly Gia Khanh Commune, Gia Loc District, Hai Duong Province). The 220kV connection line runs through Gia Loc Commune, Gia Phuc Commune, and Thach Khoi Ward in Hai Phong City.

The Gia Loc 220/110/22kV Substation project includes three 220/110/22kV–250MVA transformers, with two transformers of the same capacity installed in this phase.

On the 220kV side, the substation is designed with 16 feeder bays arranged in a double busbar and ring bus configuration. In this phase, equipment has been installed for 8 bays, with space reserved for 8 additional bays.

On the 110kV side, the design includes 24 feeder bays following a double busbar with sectionalizing and ring bus scheme. Equipment for 14 bays has been installed in this phase, with space reserved for 10 more bays. The 35kV section is connected to the local power grid to supply auxiliary power.

The control, protection, measurement, communication, and SCADA systems are equipped in accordance with EVN and EVNNPT standards, ensuring full compliance with electrical equipment regulations and applicable technical codes.

For the connection line component, a 220kV quadruple-circuit transmission line was constructed from the Gia Loc 220kV Substation, connected in continuation to two circuits of the existing Hai Duong – Pho Noi 220kV transmission line, with a total route length of approximately 5.37 kilometers.

Once completed, the project will ensure a stable power supply for Hai Phong City’s loads, meeting the city’s and surrounding areas’ growing socio-economic development demands. It will also help reduce the load on the existing 220/110kV transformers at 220kV substations in Hai Phong City and neighboring provinces, contributing to compliance with the N-1 criterion and enhancing the safety and reliability of the regional power grid.

Earlier, on October 7, 2025, the Investor-Level Acceptance Council, chaired by EVNNPT Deputy General Director Mr. Hoang Van Tuyen, convened and approved the energization of the project.
