On March 27, in Quang Ngai, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB), in coordination with relevant units, launched the construction of the Dung Quat 2 220kV Substation project and the Dung Quat – Dung Quat 2 220kV transmission line.

The project is being invested and constructed in Van Tuong Commune, Quang Ngai Province. The project includes the construction of a new Dung Quat 2 220kV Substation with 2 transformers, a total capacity of 500MVA (in this phase, 1 transformer with a capacity of 250MVA will be installed). The number of 220kV bays is 10, including 06 main bays and 04 reserve bays; the number of 110kV bays is 10, including 04 main bays and 06 reserve bays. The Dung Quat – Dung Quat 2 220kV transmission line section measures approximately 2.7 kilometers in length.

After completion and operation (expected in Q4/2026), the project will ensure a stable and high-quality power supply to meet the load growth demand of Quang Ngai Province, especially ensuring power supply for the Hoa Phat Steel Complex in Quang Ngai; reducing load for transformers at the existing Dung Quat 220kV Substation; improving the reliability of the power system; and meeting socio-economic development needs of Quang Ngai Province and neighboring areas.
