With 588 such customers and a cumulative installed capacity of 23,527.51 kW, Lao Cai Power Company’s figures indicate that the demand for greater energy self-sufficiency among customers in Lao Cai Province is steadily increasing.

In August 2026 alone, the company added 70 new customers with a total capacity of approximately 2,123.8kW, achieving 101.95% of the capacity target and 255.6% of the customer count target. All affiliated power units surpassed 100% of their monthly targets.

Rooftop solar systems help meet customers’ on-site electricity needs

Of the cumulative total capacity, 4,546.26kW was developed in 2025, while 18,981.24kW was added in 2026 alone - equivalent to 75.92% of the annual plan.

Lao Cai Power Company emphasizes that the development of self-produced, self-consumed rooftop solar power must align with actual electricity consumption needs while ensuring compliance with technical, safety, and power system operational requirements.

Helping strengthen local power supply self-sufficiency

Together with its customers, Lao Cai Power Company has also proactively installed rooftop solar systems at six of its offices, with a combined capacity of 380kW. In August 2026, these systems generated 47,419kWh, helping to meet part of the units' on-site electricity demand.

According to the company’s data, in August 2026, self-produced, self-consumed rooftop solar power was estimated to have reduced electricity consumption from the power system by approximately 1,791,502 kWh, equivalent to 0.43% of commercial electricity sales. With 588 customers and a combined capacity of more than 23,500 kW, self-produced, self-consumed rooftop solar power is gradually becoming a solution of growing interest among customers. For households, the model helps meet part of their electricity needs for daily use; for businesses, it helps reduce electricity costs and meet clean energy use requirements, while also contributing to the efficient use of locally available energy resources.

Moving forward, Lao Cai Power Company will continue to coordinate with and guide customers in developing self-generation and self-consumption rooftop solar systems that match their usage needs, ensuring compliance with regulations, safety, and operational efficiency.
