In August 2025, Vietnam Electricity ensured a safe and continuous power supply to serve socio-economic development and meet people's daily needs. In particular, EVN ensured a safe and stable power supply for activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. In addition, EVN units in the Central region of Vietnam proactively responded to and overcame the consequences of Storm No. 5 (KAJIKI) on the power system, safely restoring power to affected customers.

The total system's power production and import output in August 2025 reached 29.2 billion kWh, of which the largest daily output reached 1,084 billion kWh and the largest capacity reached 54,370 MW. Accumulated in the first 8 months of 2025, the total system's output reached 214.5 billion kWh. The proportion of mobilized power sources in the whole system in the first 8 months of the year is as follows:

+ Hydropower: 62.45 billion kWh, accounting for 29.1%.

+ Coal-fired thermal power: 105.71 billion kWh, accounting for 49.3%.

+ Gas turbine: 13.37 billion kWh, accounting for 6.2%.

+ Renewable energy: 27.41 billion kWh, accounting for 12.8% (of which solar power reached 17.44 billion kWh, wind power reached 9.14 billion kWh).

+ Imported power: 5.24 billion kWh, accounting for 2.4%... Power transmission output in August 2025 is estimated at 23.4 billion kWh; cumulative output in the first 8 months of 2025 is estimated at 171.44 billion kWh.

Construction investment work: EVN leaders and units regularly inspect the construction status of key projects, directly work with units in localities to remove obstacles, and promote investment progress for key projects. EVN has 03 projects selected as online television points in the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of 250 typical projects nationwide to celebrate the August Revolution and National Day, September 2, organized by the Government on August 19, 2025.

Some outstanding results in construction investment work achieved in August 2025 and early September 2025 such as: Connecting unit 1 of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion project to the grid; first oil firing of boiler unit 1 of the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant project; successfully energizing the project of supplying power from the national grid to Con Dao; starting construction of the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project.

Regarding the power grid, in the first 8 months of 2025, EVN and its units started 103 projects and completed energizing 149 power grid projects from 110 to 500kV (03 500kV projects, 14 220kV projects, and 132 110kV projects).

Other work: The 4th Congress of the Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity, term 2025 - 2030, took place on August 9-10, 2025. During the term 2025 - 2030, the EVN Party Committee shall be determined to successfully implement the targets and tasks with 3 main breakthroughs: (1) Strengthening the leadership and direction of the Party Committee; Transparent, streamlined, effective and efficient corporate governance; (2) Accelerating investment in building power sources and grids; (3) Breakthrough development of science and technology, renovation and digital transformation...

Some key tasks of EVN in September 2025

Continue to thoroughly and seriously implement the assigned tasks in the directives of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Finance on ensuring adequate power supply in the remaining months of 2025 and preparing plans/schemes for power supply in 2026.

On power production and supply:

Power Generation Corporations and dependent power generation units ensure sufficient fuel (coal, gas) for electricity production according to system demand; provide sufficient information and input parameters to serve the calculation, planning of power supply, and operation of the National power system in 2026.

The National Power Transmission Corporation ensures the highest availability of power lines and equipment; it continues to effectively strengthen the review and deploy solutions to minimize transmission grid incidents.

Power Corporations/Power Companies continue to implement well the power supply plans with the target of ensuring absolute safety, continuity, and stability during upcoming major events. Closely coordinate with NSMO, develop specific response plans to manage the load in case of heat waves or when the system operation situation has many fluctuations affecting the available capacity of the system.

Units continue to strengthen disaster prevention, control, and mitigation work next month of the 2025 storm season, according to instructions and directions of competent authorities.

On investment in power source construction: Ensuring the progress of key power source projects: (i) Hoa Binh Expanded Hydropower Plant: Completing the commercial power generation target of Unit 1 and complete the rotor installation complex of Unit 2, generating power in October 2025; (ii) Quang Trach Thermal Power Plant I: Completing synchronous items serving coal combustion of Unit 1 in November 2025, to meet the grid connection target of Unit 1 in the fourth quarter of 2025; (iii) Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project and Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant Project: Completing the signing of level 2 progress agreements, focus on implementing construction according to and ahead of the signed contract schedule, and so on.

On investment in power grid construction: Focusing on directing and urging the progress of key power grid projects, especially the following projects: Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line, Hoa Binh expanded hydropower plant, Quang Trach 1 thermal power plant, supplying power to Con Dao using the national grid, and so on.

Other tasks:

- Synthesizing and evaluating the implementation of science and technology development tasks, renovation, digital transformation, and the application of science and technology in units.

- Ensuring safe operation of the power grid and proactively coordinating with localities in responding to natural disasters in the coming time.

- Developing a plan to supply power on-site to the outpost islands of the Fatherland, and so on.

To ensure power supply for economic development and people's lives in all situations, EVN hopes to continue to receive the sharing and active cooperation of people and electricity customers by thoroughly using electricity economically, especially during peak hours at noon (13:00 to 15:00) and evening (21:00 to 23:00). In particular, pay special attention to the reasonable use of air conditioning, only turn on the air conditioning when really necessary, set the temperature at 270C or higher; at the same time, pay attention not to use many high-capacity electrical devices at the same time during peak hours. Thoroughly using electricity economically also minimizes the risk of electrical incidents and limits the situation of high electricity bills./.
