At 6:55 PM on May 6th, at the Quang Trach Power Center (Quang Tri province), Unit 1 of the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant Project (QTTPP1) successfully conducted its first coal-burning, marking an important technical milestone in the trial run and commissioning of the project.
QTTPP1 is invested by Vietnam Electricity (EVN), with the Power Project Management Board No. 2 (EVNPMB2) assigned as the investor's representative.
The project, located at the Quang Trach Power Center in Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province, commenced construction in December 2021. The QTTPP1 comprises two units with a total installed capacity of 1,403MW, utilizing USC (supercritical) technology, boasting the highest plant parameters currently in Vietnam. Upon commissioning, the plant will supply the national power grid with approximately 9.1 billion kWh of power annually, contributing to national energy security and enhancing the safety and stability of the power system.
