The Monsoon Wind Power Plant project, with a scale of 600MW and a total investment of 1 billion USD, invested by Impact Energy Asia Development Limited (IEAD) and China Power Construction Corporation (PowerChina) as the general contractor, is built in Sekeong and Attapeu provinces (Laos).

In December 2024, POM took over and managed the operation of one 500kV substation and four 115kV substations from the investor IEAD. After two months of continuous efforts, with experience and high expertise, the POM O&M team quickly researched and mastered the technology, ensuring the safe and effective energization process of the 500kV substation, marking an important milestone in the project's development.

POM commits that the 500kV and 115kV substations of the Monsoon Wind Power Plant will operate stably and continuously, complying with all regulations of Laos and Vietnam. In addition, POM will provide optimal solutions to help the investor manage and operate wind turbines effectively, minimizing losses due to maintenance stops and troubleshooting.

The completion of the 550kV substation in Sekeong, Laos on schedule is essential, demonstrating that POM quickly meets the needs of customers not only domestically but also internationally, enhancing the level of reliability for customers and investors.

Electricity from the Monsoon wind power plant will be transmitted to Vietnam via the  Monsoon - Thanh My 500kV power line (71.76km long, of which 43km is in Vietnam). This project is part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two governments, aiming to import electricity from Laos to Vietnam.
