In the spirit of actively implementing Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated 7 May 2020 on enhancing electricity saving in the period of 2020 - 2025 and Official telegram No. 397/CD-TTg dated 13 May 2023 on proactively implementing urgent measures to cope with the risk of heat, drought, water shortage and saltwater intrusion of the Prime Minister, Vietnam Electricity has issued a document 2466/BC-EVN dated 15 May 2023 sending to the People's Committees of the provinces and cities, proposing directions on the implementation of electricity saving in the area.
From 15 May 2023, leaders of Vietnam Electricity and Power Corporations have actively worked in each locality to provide specific information on the situation of power supply in the hot season in 2023. Thereby, agreeing on implementation plans to save electricity, and efforts to supply electricity during the peak of the hot season with local authorities.
Up to 31 May 2023, all 63/63 provinces and cities issued directive documents on promoting and enhancing local electricity saving in the dry season and the whole year of 2023.
Provinces and cities have adjusted time to turn off lights of public lighting systems earlier to join hands to save electricity
Accordingly, the leaders of the People's Committees of the provinces and cities have assigned departments, agencies, People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities directly under the province, socio-political organizations, organizations, agencies and businesses, electricity-using households, etc. urgently implement urgent measures to increase electricity saving, contributing to ensuring electricity supply in the locality. At the same time, promote communication about the difficult situation of electricity supply in 2023 on the local mass media so that organizations, agencies, businesses, and people know and share difficulties and strengthen energy-saving practices.
In addition, the People's Committees of the provinces and cities also assigned the Department of Industry and Trade and local authorities to coordinate with the Power sector to directly monitor, urge and inspect the implementation of regulations on electricity saving and enhance electric saving.
Economical and efficient use of electricity is considered one of the urgent and important solutions, contributing to ensuring electricity for economic development and social life.
