The ceremony was attended by Mr. Phan Xuan Dung - Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Ms. Norlida Buniyamin - President of the Malaysian Institute of Engineers, President of the Federation of Engineering Organizations in the Asia-Pacific region; Mr. Yau Chau Fong - Chairman of the ASEAN Engineers Register Council, Vice Chairman of the Malaysian Engineers Association; Mr. Mai Quoc Hoi - Vice President and General Secretary of Vietnam Electricity Association.
The ceremony of awarding certificates and badges of ASEAN chartered professional engineers 2023 aims to honor and recognize the continuous efforts and outstanding achievements of Vietnamese engineers and welcome engineers to officially join the ASEAN professional engineers.
Of the total 87 engineers recognized on this occasion, 83 are from Vietnam Electricity. Thus, the total number of EVN engineers receiving this certificate has reached 525 people, accounting for 80% of the country's total 639 ASEAN engineers.
Commenting on the quality of Vietnam's ASEAN professional engineers, Mr. Yau Chau Fong - Chairman of the ASEAN Engineer Registration Council and Vice Chairman of the Malaysian Engineers Association highly appreciated Vietnam's team of engineers, including EVN. In 2023, engineers from Vietnam Electricity account for 83/87 of the total number of engineers awarded such titles. That shows that EVN has made an important contribution to the energy industry in Vietnam.
Mr. Yau Chau Fong hopes that EVN engineers will actively share and exchange experiences with ASEAN countries to promote the development of the energy industry in Vietnam as well as other countries in the region.
To achieve the "ASEAN Professional Engineer" certificate, engineers must have a domestically recognized science/technology university degree; must have at least 7 years of experience working in a technical environment, including at least 2 years of acting as leader of projects and themes in important electrical engineering fields; must be fluent in at least one foreign language (preferably English); meet ethical and professional development requirements, and so on.
