The working session was held before the Vietnam - Australia Business Forum on Energy Transition 2023, held in Hanoi on 28 March 2023. This is a program within the framework of energy cooperation between Australia and Vietnam. The Australian Government Trade and Investment Agency (Austrade) in coordination with the Electricity & Renewable Energy Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and Vietnam Electricity hold this program.
At the meeting, EVN Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh and leaders of EVN's specialized committees shared a lot of information about the orientation and steps of Vietnam's electricity industry in the context of implementing energy transition towards Vietnam's goal of net zero emissions reduction by 2050. At the same time, general information on EVN's development, digital transformation, business modernization, customer service, etc. is also exchanged and discussed by the two sides.

The EVN side also mentioned challenges in the energy transition process. Specifically, it is a problem of power transmission and stable and efficient operation of the power system when the proportion of wind and solar power sources increases. Another challenge is also pointed out, that the development of renewable energy sources with a high proportion in the power system requires associated storage power sources (pumped hydropower, energy storage batteries, etc.).
