Chairman of EVN’s Board of Members had a meeting with executives of Siemens AG

On February 17, 2017, a delegation of Siemens AG (German) led by Mr. Willi Meixner – the Chief Executive Officer of Power & Gas Division paid a visit to Vietnam Electricity’s headquarters.

At the meeting with Mr. Willi Meixner, Chairman of EVN’s Board of Members – Mr. Duong Quang Thanh said that today the electricity consumption demand in Vietnam is growing rapidly, at 10 - 11% per year. In order to satisfy such a high growth rate of power demand for the national socio – economic development, EVN has strived to develop a variety of generation resources such as renewable energy, liquefied natural gas (LNG), etc.

The Chairman highlighted that EVN has made great efforts to become one of four leading national power corporations in ASEAN region by the year 2020. To this end, EVN has paid much attention to improving governance capability of the Holding Corporation, promoting scientific and technological applications in production, management, at the same time training and developing a highly qualified human resource.

Therefore, EVN wishes to learn from governance experiences of Siemens AG, to continue cooperation activities with Siemens AG in human resource training and in introducing new technologies in power generation, transmission and distribution business lines, etc.

Mr. Willi Meixner - the Chief Executive Officer of Power & Gas Division of Siemens viewed that EVN has been very responsive to changes in the world energy market, quickly catching up with the current renewable development or combined cycle power plant trends, and dynamically promoting advanced technology applications in their production activities, etc. In parallel, he affirmed that Siemens AG would be very eager to cooperate and accompany EVN in the modernization process of Vietnam power sector.
