According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Ha - Deputy Director of EVNPSC, the units of Hoa Binh Power Plant have been in operation for more than 30 years, the 220kV oil cable system serving transmission of generating capacity of the units from the booster transformer to the switching station of 220kV has started to get outdated. The records in operation show that the cable insulation oil has been mixed with impurities, which can increasingly cause risks of cable failure. Therefore, the replacement of 220kV oil cable system is to ensure safe and continuous operation of the units.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Ha, compared with oil cables, dry cables have the advantages of compactness, better operation, simplicity, higher quality, longer service life and resistance to the natural environment at higher temperatures. The replacement of oil cables with dry cables for unit 1 of Hoa Binh Power Plant confirms EVNPSC's development in technology mastery. Thereby, improving the skills of engineers and workers to be able to perform the likes at many other hydropower plants.
