According to this Resolution, the Government agreed on a plan to support electricity price reduction and electricity bill reduction applied to electricity customers affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, for the third time, as proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Previously, in 2020, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) proactively reported to the Prime Minister, ministries and branches to ask for permission to reduce electricity prices and reduce electricity bills, for two times, with a total nearly VND12,300 billion to share difficulties with electricity customers affected by COVID-19 epidemic.
Specifically, the first time was implemented in accordance with Resolution No. 41/NQ-CP dated 9 April 2020 of the Government in the period from 16 April 2020 to the 16 July 2020. In this phase, EVN reduced electricity prices and reduced electricity bills with a total amount of VND9,321.1 billion.
The second time was implemented in accordance with Resolution No. 180/NQ-CP dated 17 February 2020 of the Government, and applied in three months from October to December 2020. In the second time, EVN reduced electricity prices and reduced electricity bills with a total amount of VND2,942.4 billion.
