From the end of April 2021 to now, the city's electricity consumption has remained at very high levels. Particularly on 11, 12 and 14 May 2021, electricity consumption was 90.32 million kWh, 90.27 million kWh and 90.69 million kWh, respectively. These consumption levels all passed the previous record (90.03 million kWh of 24 April 2019).
The average daily electricity consumption in March, April, and May 2021 is also continuously increasing. The average daily power output in May reached 81.94 million kWh, 46% higher than that in February.
Increased electricity consumption with record milestones is the main reason why electricity bills customers have to pay in the April and May billing periods are higher compared to the March period.

According to Dr. Dinh Hoang Bach, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ton Duc Thang University, on hot days, people use air conditioners for a longer time and tend to set lower temperatures. The high ambient temperature has a direct impact on the outdoor unit, making air conditioners work harder, so power consumption increases.
EVNHCMC has also developed an EVNHCMC Customer Service application (APP) installed on mobile phones to help customers monitor their daily electricity consumption (if meters with remote meter reading are installed) or their monthly electricity consumption (if meters with remote meter reading are not installed). Up to now, more than one million customers in Ho Chi Minh City have installed the EVNHCMC Customer Service application.
