Phu Lam-Phu Dinh 110kV power line passes through many residential areas with a complicated traffic system
The Phu Lam-Phu Dinh 1, 2 double circuit 110kV power line was built in the period 1994-1996, with a transmission capacity of 186MVA, supplying power to District 6, District 8 and the Southwest area of the city. This is also a fast-developing area, so the line is frequently overloaded during operation. On the other hand, the line passes through developing residential areas, which encroach the grid right-of-way.
To meet the increasing power demand in the area, EVNHCMC implemented the Phu Lam-Phu Dinh 110kV power line renovation project, from Phu Lam 500/220/110kV substation to Phu Dinh 110kV substation with a length of nearly 6km.
The line consists of two 110kV circuits, with 27 mixed steel towers. The total investment was more than VND46 billion. The project reinforces its transmission capacity from 186MVA to 307.8MVA. The project distances are also increased, ensuring safety in operation while keeping the right-of-way unchanged so that no site clearance is incurred.
The project has a rather long route, passes through many residential areas and a complex and dense traffic system. There are intersections with three inland waterway traffic routes and Vo Van Kiet Boulevard, so the construction faced many obstacles. Some areas had to be done manually due to small road conditions. The project site was located in a complex terrain residential area, and it was impossible to move large motorized machinery on tower foundations.
