Under the authorization of the General Directors of the two groups, Mr. Pham Tien Dung - Deputy General Director of PVN (top left) and Mr. Nguyen Danh Son - Director of the Electric Power Trading Company signed a PPA for the commercial operation phase of Song Hau 1 TPP in the presence of delegates
Song Hau 1 TPP invested by PVN with a capacity of 2x600MW, was commenced on 16 May 2015 at Phu Xuan hamlet, Mai Dam town, Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province. The project is implemented and applied specific mechanisms and policies for construction investment according to Decision No. 2414/QD-TTg dated 11 December 2013 by the Prime Minister.
After nearly 7 years of construction, on 26 November 2020, unit 1 of Song Hau 1 TPP synchronized and started generating power for the national power system. On 12 April 2022, Song Hau 1 TPP was handed over to the investor by the EPC general contractor to be ready for commercial operation of the whole plant.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hung Dung – a member of PVN’s Member Board, this is an important project of PVN. The completed project contributes to the power supply for the country, promoting the socio-economic development of Hau Giang province
The PPA signing for the commercial operation phase of Song Hau 1 TPP is an important step for Song Hau 1 TPP to officially participate in bidding in the competitive power generation market, synchronizing with the development of Vietnam's power sector, and contributing to ensuring the country's energy security.

The commissioning of Song Hau 1 TPP is a significant event, making an important contribution to ensuring the supply and demand balance in the South and Southwest regions. the agreement signing ceremony achieved today is the result of close, proactive and active coordination through many rounds and many negotiation sessions between EVN and PVN, including many negotiation rounds chaired by PVN and EVN leaders
The Chairman of EVN's Member Board hopes that with the success of this agreement signing ceremony, PVN will complete the procedures to soon participate in the power market. At the same time, PVN and EVN will increasingly find a high consensus in negotiating the PPA for Thai Binh 2, Nhon Trach 3 & 4 TPPs, implementing Block B and Blue Whale gas projects, and handing over Long Phu, Song Hau 1 distribution yards, etc.
Attending and witnessing the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An highly appreciated the close cooperation between PVN and EVN; as well as the efforts of the two parties' negotiating teams to reach an agreement on contract terms. Deputy Minister Dang Hoang An believes that PVN will operate stably, efficiently and safely Song Hau 1 TPP, making an important contribution to ensuring national energy security and making positive contributions to economic development.
