EVN exchanges power purchase agreements with investors in hydropower plants in Laos

On 28 June 2021, in Hanoi, General Director of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Tran Dinh Nhan attended the ceremony and exchanged power purchase agreements (PPAs) between EVN and the investors of hydropower plants in Laos under the witness of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

Specifically, EVN has exchanged PPAs with Phongsubthavy Group for the Nam Yeuang hydropower plant cluster, the Nam Mo 2, Nam Tai, Nam Sak, Nam Sao and Nam Chao hydropower plants.

At the same time, EVN has exchanged PPAs with Kong Sup Hydro Development Nam Neun 1 and Nam Neun 3 Company for Nam Non 1 Hydropower Plant.

The above PPAs continue to mark a step forward in the friendly relationship between the two countries, especially cooperation in the energy sector.

Up to now, many hydropower plants in Laos that have exported power to Vietnam were co-invested by Vietnamese and Lao investors, such as Xekaman 1 (290MW), Xekaman SanXay (32MW) hydropower plants, Nam Sak (265MW) hydropower plant cluster, etc.
