On May 15, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 500/QD-TTg, approving the national power development master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (Power Master Plan VIII). In this Decision, the Prime Minister assigned EVN to play the main role in ensuring a stable and safe power supply for socio-economic development; invest in power source and transmission grid projects according to assigned tasks.
EVN holds meeting to discuss implementation plan of Power Master VIII
Implementing Power Master Plan VIII, EVN is deploying 14 power source projects, including key power projects such as Quang Trach 1, Quang Trach 2, Expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower, Expanded Ialy Hydropower, Bac Ai Pumped-storage Hydropower, Dung Quat 1, Dung Quat 3, etc.
In addition, EVN and its member units also proposed to implement power source projects in the 2030 period, such as the expansion of existing hydropower plants managed by EVN and its member units, wind and pumped-storage hydropower, floating solar power on hydropower reservoirs, etc.
Regarding the power grid, according to the Power Master Plan VIII, in the 2021-2030 period, it is necessary to complete 950 of 500kV-220kV power grid projects, of which EVN and its member units have completed energizing 116 works in 2021-2022 and early 2023. Currently, EVN and its member units are being assigned to invest in 449 power grid projects.
At the meeting, the specialized departments and leaders of units and EVN contributed ideas and solutions for EVN to have a specific and detailed plan to effectively implement the Power Master Plan VIII.
Mr. Dang Huy Cuong suggested that EVN’s specialized departments and member units carefully review and evaluate all ongoing projects and, at the same time, have solutions to accelerate the progress of projects.
Along with that, EVN’s leaders also required the specialized departments to coordinate with the units to update the calculation of the supply-demand balance to 2030 and propose solutions and implementation mechanisms; study the mechanism for quick implementation of projects, especially the selection of consulting contractors; calculate the ability to raise capital in the period up to 2030; study the legal basis for implementing the construction investment work approved in the national planning, provincial planning, and so on.
