Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung - Director of EVN’s Business Department said that following the Government's directions on non-cash payment, over the past time, EVN has implemented many solutions to apply scientific and technological advances; coordinated with banks and intermediaries to promote non-cash payment for electricity bills.
The application of QR-Code in electricity bill payment will be an important solution in 2020, in order to execute the Prime Minister's direction towards a cash-free society.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung - Director of EVN’s Business Department (the one speaking) said EVN wishes to bring customers the most convenient and useful services.
The leader of EVN’s Business Department requested that Power Corporations would work closely with banks, intermediaries and Information and Communications Technology Company to deploy the next steps in the development of QR-Code for electricity customers.
With the aim of facilitating the electricity bill payment of customers, EVN has been developing a designated QR-Code for each customer. Each customer will have a QR-Code. Accordingly, from the first power purchase contract with EVN, the customer will be granted a QR-Code. This code will be attached to the customer, applied on all records, electricity bills, electricity bill notices of the customer. The customer does not have to memorize his/her customer code when conducting transactions with EVN.
As for EVN, the application of QR-Code will contribute to improving labor productivity, effectively implementing the internal governance.
At the meeting, representatives from banks and intermediaries discussed openly with EVN, in order to remove difficulties and obstacles to reach agreement on implementation solutions in the coming time. It is expected that by August 30, 2020, EVN will connect with banks and intermediaries through QR-Code of customers. By September 2020, the Group will officially announce the organizations which have successfully connected for application in practice.
In recent years, EVN has made breakthroughs in digital transformation in electricity bill payment. In 2012, EVN was the first business to apply e-invoices nationwide. By 2019, EVN had provided 100% of level 4 online services. Currently, 100% of business activities and customer services have been digitized. EVN is also one of the pioneers to provide services on the National Public Service Portal, etc.
For the time being, EVN has been cooperating with more than 30 banks and 10 intermediaries for electricity bill payment. In 2015, only nearly 15% of customers paid through banks and intermediaries. By the end of 2020, 63.91% of customers will pay electricity bills through these organizations. Especially, since March 2020, EVN has applied new forms of electricity bills and electricity bill notices, through which QR-Code is provided for purposes of payment, monitoring and comparing the amount of electricity consumption.
In the 2020-2025 period, EVN aims to build an ecosystem of digital electricity services, e-commerce, and electronic payments to bring better experiences to customers.
