According to EVNCPC's report, in the first 6 months of the year, due to prolonged heat, the peak capacity of the entire power system under EVNCPC’s management jumped to more than 4,120.8MW, an increase of 13.28% compared to the same period last year (3,637.5MW) and 8.46% against the peak capacity of 2023 (3,799MW).

In the first 6 months of 2024, EVNCPC's power sales to 13 provinces in the Central-Central Highlands reached 12,790.57 million kWh, increasing by 16.46% compared to the same period in 2023 (10,982.41 million kWh), reaching 53.22% of the plan assigned by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) (24,030 million kWh). This is an indication that the economic growth in this region is recovering well, with the strongest growth in the Agriculture - Forestry - Fisheries sector at 35.73%; the Commercial - Hotel sector growing by 24.44%; the Consumption and Management sector by 17.55%; and the Industry - Construction sector by 10.75%.

The load growth in the first 6 months of 2024 has resulted from a good recovery of the Commercial - Hotel and Agriculture - Forestry - Fisheries customer groups, with high load growth compared to the same period in 2023. The power sales of all power companies have increased in comparison with the same period in 2023; particularly three power companies having high growth rate are Gia Lai Power Company (Gia Lai PC) +25.83%, Binh Dinh Power Company (Binh Dinh PC) +21.69%, Da Nang Power Company (Da Nang PC) +21.31%.

Notably, one of the indicators that EVNCPC requires its member power companies to manage to reduce is the power loss rate. In fact, in the past 6 months, the aggregate loss rate was 3.90%, a decrease of 1.16% over the same period (5.06%) on all 3 voltage levels including low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage.

Ensuring power supply for the last 6 months of the year

According to EVNCPC, in the last 6 months, the Corporation is going to focus on ensuring power supply in the dry season and hot season of 2024 and providing safe and reliable electricity for political, social, economic, and cultural activities in the Central and Central Highlands regions.

EVNCPC directed Power Companies to develop typical load charts, calculating peak load of each customer during peak hours of system.

At the same time, EVNCPC will ensure dispatching the maximum rooftop solar power capacity not exceeding the dispatched capacity announced by the National Load Dispatch Center, so that power line and substation equipment will not be overloaded. Besides, the Corporation will evaluate the availability and make plans to borrow diesel generators from customers when necessary to ensure power supply.
