Da Nang's power sales grew by 15.5% compared to 2023

According to Mr. Le Hong Cuong, Director of Da Nang Power Company Limited (Da Nang PC), the power sales in the first 6 months of 2024 reached 1.75 billion kWh, an increase of 15.5% compared to 2023. In general, all load components have a significant growth over the same period, notably commerce - hotels - restaurants load increased by 24% over the same period because of many cultural events and festivals during the recent time attracting domestic and foreign tourists to Da Nang.

The peak capacity reached 668MW (on June 14), 8.7% higher than the peak capacity in 2023. The peak load was 13.7 million kWh (on June 14), 7.8% higher than the peak load in 2023.

Regarding state management in electricity activities and electricity use, according to Mr. Thai Viet Hung, Head of Energy Management Division (Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang City), renewable energy and new energy sources account for 3.69% of the total primary energy supply in Da Nang. The total installed capacity of solar power of the entire city is 81.6MW (reaching 33% of the plan by 2025). According to Decision 262/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the implementation plan of Power Development Master Plan 8, the rooftop solar power capacity allocated to Da Nang City is 30MW by 2030. Currently, DOIT is waiting for a rooftop solar power development promotion mechanism to be introduced as a basis for implementation.

Regarding economical and efficient use of energy, as of April 17, 2024, Da Nang PC has signed electricity saving agreements with 28,121 customers in the administrative, public lighting, industrial production, business and services groups, reaching a rate of 100%, with the committed electricity saving of 46.8 million kWh.
