Delegates attending workshop 'BESS storage technology solutions for sustainable development of renewable energy'
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Director of Smart Tech Group Nguyen Quynh Duy said that the technology solution uses a battery energy storage system (BESS) to collect solar energy, store it on-site, and regulate it to the grid when needed and a potential solution in power system operation to solve the problem of grid overload when renewable energy sources are high, and at the same time contribute to shifting the load of the power system during peak hours.
The workshop "Bess storage technology solutions for the sustainable development of renewable energy" was organized to share information about BESS; and the potential for investment and the development of battery factories in Vietnam.
Speaking at the workshop, Vice President Vo Quang Lam said that in the context of large hydropower potential that has basically been fully exploited; Coal thermal power plants are difficult to arrange international capital due to the commitment to combating global climate change; Gas thermal power prices are quite high and depend on world fuel sources, etc. At COP26, the Prime Minister made a strong commitment to net zero emissions by 2050. Therefore, the goal of promoting exploitation and maximizing and effectively using domestic renewable energy sources is an inevitable trend in the coming period to gradually increase the proportion of renewable energy in national energy production and consumption. Thereby, there will be a decreasing dependence on fossil energy sources, improving the energy industry structure, ensuring energy security, mitigating climate change, and protecting the environment and socio-economic development sustainably.
