The working session between EVN and the high-level delegation of the European Union and Great Britain and Northern Ireland
The high-level delegations of the European Union and Great Britain and Northern Ireland highly appreciated Vietnam's contribution to COP26, especially the declaration of "zero" net emissions made by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vietnam's participation in the global joint declaration on energy transition.
At the meeting, the parties discussed EVN's plan to implement commitments at COP26; advantages and challenges for energy transition, especially in terms of investment and development of power sources and power grids.
EVN will also strictly follow the directions, roadmaps and policies of the State in the field of implementing Vietnam's commitments at this COP26. However, EVN also has to face many difficulties in the roadmap to realize its commitment to achieving "zero" net emissions by 2050 such as challenges in ensuring energy security, supplying sufficient power for socio-economic development and people's daily-life needs; difficulties in mobilizing capital for investment, construction of power grid works, conversion of thermal power plants to meet emission criteria, and so on.
EVN's leaders expect that the European Union and the United Kingdom will provide financial support for EVN, as well as share experiences in reducing emissions to fulfill COP26's commitments. EVN's leaders also believe that in the coming time, the two parties will continue to have specific exchanges and cooperation in the field of energy balance.
