Extreme heat on a large scale: The national peak load exceeded 42,000MW for the first time at noon on 21 June 2021

The extreme hot weather in the North and Central Vietnam since 16 June 2021 has made the electricity consumption of the North in particular and the whole country in general increase continuously. According to data from the National Load Dispatch Center, at noon on 21 June 2021, the national peak load exceeded 42,000MW for the first time and set a new record of 42,146MW.

In addition, the peak load of the North in particular and Hanoi alone also set a new record, with the new highest peak load of the North at 18,700MW and of Hanoi at 4,700MW.

In order to limit the risk of local incidents on the power grid as well as at customers’ houses, EVN continues to advise people, offices and manufacturing facilities to pay attention to using electricity safely, economically, especially at noon and evening peak hours, i.e. from 11:30 to 15:00 at noon, from 20:00 to 23:00 in the evening. At the same time, attention should be paid to the proper use of air conditioners (which should be set at 26-27 degrees or higher, used in combination with fans) and not usingmany large-capacity electrical appliances at the same time.
