In execution of the general policy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity on renewable energy development, Genco 3 has put forward a proposal to the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province on investment policy for two solar energy projects to be located at Phuoc Minh commune, Thuan Nam district, which cover an area of 554 ha, the installed capacity of the two projects is expected to be approximately 350 MW, with the total investment cost of around VND 9,576 billion.
The projects will be implemented from the second quarter of 2018 to the first quarter of 2021. Besides electricity generation from solar energy, Genco 3 plans to develop hi tech agricultural production in the project areas simultaneously.
Currently Power Generation Corporation No.3 manages and operates 12 thermal power and hydropower plants throughout the country with the total installed capacity of 6,549 MW, accounting for nearly 17% of the national power system generation capacity.
