Mr. Nguyen Xuan Nam - Vice President of EVN said that over the past 3 years, with the development encouragement policy of the Vietnam Government, renewable energy sources have developed very quickly. In the coming time, according to the draft National Power Plan VIII, it is expected that renewable energy sources will continue to be developed, with the orientation to focus on developing wind power with a scale of 3 times by 2030. In addition, Vietnam Government has made a strong commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050. This goal also poses great challenges to Vietnam’s energy industry, especially the power sector.
EVN Vice President desires that EVN will receive the attention and support from Germany and related organizations, especially in financial cooperation to ensure that EVN can effectively mobilize preferential capital sources.
Mr. Andreas Forster - BMZ Head of Division East Asia, South-East Asia emphasized that EVN is an important partner for BMZ, especially recently when Vietnam has achieved great achievements in the development of renewable energy sources. Mr. Andreas Forster affirmed that the German government is committed to supporting Vietnam in the energy transition. BMZ and related organizations also look forward to continuing to support EVN in promoting the development of renewable energy projects in Vietnam.

At the meeting, the two sides had specific exchanges and discussions on such issues as EVN’s needs in development cooperation; investment capital issues; innovation and capacity improvement; power system management and operation when there is a high percentage of renewable energy sources as well as the priorities that EVN has determined to get cooperation and support from the German Government.
