EVN’s Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh welcomes United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the British Embassy in Hanoi

On April 5, in Hanoi, EVN’s Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh had a working session with representatives of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and the British Embassy on the Just Energy Transition Partnership program (JETP).

Attending the meeting were Mr. Paul Eastwood - Senior Advisor on Climate & Energy, International Finance Directorate, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; Ms. Lucy Wallace - Climate Counselor, British Embassy; Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Bich - Energy Attaché, British Embassy.

At the meeting, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the British Embassy expressed their cooperation expectations and put forward proposals for assisting EVN, sharing experiences and knowledge for EVN in the upcoming energy transition.

EVN’s Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh thanked the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the British Embassy for their interest in the energy sector in Vietnam, and expressed his hope for further discussions between the two parties in the coming time.

At the meeting, the leader of EVN exchanged more information on orientations and steps being taken by Vietnam's power sector in the context of energy transition, towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

In the near future, according to the draft Master Plan VIII, renewable energy sources are expected to be further developed, in which a strong focus on wind power development is envisaged, with an expectedly tripled capacity by 2030.

The two parties also discussed potential cooperation in energy transition and agreed to elaborate possibilities for concrete and effective cooperation in the future.
