EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An meets with LS Electric (South Korea) to discuss energy cooperation

On the afternoon of July 14 in Hanoi, Mr. Dang Hoang An, Chairman of the Member Council of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), welcomed and held talks with the leadership of LS Electric (South Korea) to discuss cooperation directions in the energy sector.

Leading the LS Electric delegation was Dr. Koo Ja-Kyun, Chairman of the Board of LS Electric.

Also attending on EVN’s side was Vice President Ngo Son Hai.

During the meeting, Dr. Koo Ja-Kyun outlined LS Electric’s ongoing research and deployment of solutions focused on smart grids, information technology applications, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence to enhance the efficiency of power system operations.

LS Electric representatives also shared their plans for developing high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission technology, battery energy storage systems (BESS), as well as high-voltage equipment and distribution panels suited for modern power infrastructure. In addition, the company is collaborating with partners to research small modular reactor (SMR) solutions for distributed grids, data centers, and low-emission targets.

In his remarks, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An welcomed the LS Electric delegation and acknowledged the company as a longstanding partner providing equipment and technical solutions that have supported the operation of Vietnam’s power system over the years.

EVN leadership emphasized that, as it implements the revised Power Development Plan VIII, the Group continues to prioritize building a modern, flexible, and safe power system aligned with the energy transition. In particular, EVN is interested in solutions supporting renewable energy development, energy storage systems, smart grids, and the application of IT, digital transformation, and AI to enhance national grid management and operation.

Chairman Dang Hoang An expressed his hope that LS Electric would continue to leverage its international experience, work closely with EVN units to transfer appropriate technologies, expand its production base in Vietnam, improve supply capacity, reduce costs, ensure service quality, and partner with EVN in achieving strategic energy goals in the future.

LS Electric (South Korea) was formerly the industrial electrical equipment division of LG Group, which spun off as LS Group in 2003. The company specializes in manufacturing transmission and distribution equipment, smart grids, energy storage systems, and industrial automation solutions, with a global presence including operations in Vietnam.
