Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met leaders of two Chinese enterprises
In the meeting, Mr. Tran Nghia Long summarized outcomes obtained from the last meeting with the Prime Minister in September 2016 in Hong Kong and informed that Kaidi and Hoa Dung in cooperation with a Vietnamese partner have set up an international investment fund up to USD 15 billion, and Vietnam among others is an investment target of theirs.
At present, the two enterprises have invested in thermal power generation projects in Vietnam. Expressing expectation to expand investment activities in this area, these enterprises concurrently pledge to adopt state of the art and environmentally friendly technologies, to implement projects on schedule, with acceptable quality and in compliance with international standards.
The Prime Minister clearly stated that Vietnam aims to achieve a reasonable percentage of coal fired thermal power generation in the generation mix of the country together with other types of generation sources including renewable energy. Vietnam will retrieve projects from unqualified investors to hand over to new and qualified investors who have long term commitments and accompany localities and the Government.
Emphasizing on requirements of using state of the art and environmentally friendly technologies and implementing project on schedule, the Prime Minister affirmed that all of the investors will enjoy favorable conditions when doing business in Vietnam, including Chinese ones.
Regarding Kaidi’s investment plans, the Prime Minister suggested that the Group should work with functional authorities of Vietnam for further detailed discussions about specific projects.
