EVN officially took over the power supply system on the Spratly Islands

The signing Ceremony of handing over the clean energy and lighting system on Spratly islands and DK1 between the Naval Command and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) was held on July 18, 2017 in Hanoi.

According to the Minutes, EVN will receive the entire clean energy system including wind turbine, wind turbine tower, solar batteries, charger, battery ...; Lighting system as well as protection lighting system etc…

From August 1st 2017, EVN will be responsible for management, maintenance, repair and operation in order that the power system in Spratly islands and DK1 is stable and reliable.

Chairman of EVN Board Duong Quang Thanh affirmed that not only assuring the electricity supply for the socio-economical development of the country, but EVN is also performing the important political task of bringing electricity to remote, rural, mountainous and island areas, contributing to socio-economical development and maintaining security, national defense and sovereignty.

In recent years, EVN has received, managed and operated projects of thousands of billions of VND to ensure electricity supply in 9/12 island districts of the country. Spratly Islands is the 10th one that EVN took over for electricity supply.

The Government is considering assigning EVN to receive the grid in Con Co district (Quang Tri province). Thus, Vietnam Electricity will receive, manage the operation, ensure electricity supply to 11/12 island districts of the country.

At the ceremony, EVN and the Naval Command signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the supply of electricity to the Spratly Islands and DK1 gantry house  with the goal of providing sufficient and reliable and stable electricity for 24/24 hours of service for officers and people on the Spratly Islands and the DK1, contributing to maintaining national security and defense, protecting the sovereignty and developing the offshores economy.
