Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc
Reporter: What is your evaluation on the renewable energy power systems on the islands ?
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc:
In the past period, EVNSPC has collaborated with the Naval Command and Brigade 146 to conduct surveys and assessment of the current status of the power systems on the islands.
Currently, the islands are using solar and wind energy. 70% of the solar panels are still in good condition, however the battery system is falling.
About the wind power system, 80% of the equipment is no longer capable of generating electricity. The damages are mostly from the rotary system and motherboard drivers, due to no periodic maintenance. Although the management unit – Brigade 146 attempted to fix the system temporarily, however due to limited supplies and technical conditions, the system cannot be restored and operated anymore.
Reporter: With a power system like that, what difficulties will EVNSPC encounter in operation ?
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc: EVNSPC have foreseen and preliminarily assessed the difficulties when receive the system. The request here is to recreate the original state of power supply, and then proceed to upgrade the power system, ensuring to supply power 24/7.
EVNSPC conducted the surveys, reviews and provided the effective solutions. From July 2017 to October 2017, the units will finish repairing all damaged equipment.
Due to the power system been installed from multiple sources such as funding and donations, the system consisted of a variety of types and not synchronized. This caused great trouble for the corporation. For the medium term period, EVNSPC will start synchronizing the renewable energy system on the islands to ensure adequate capacity, meeting the demands on the islands.
Reporter: In the next period, what solutions will EVNSPC implement in order to ensure the uninterrupted power supply 24/24 hours for the islands?
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc:
For now, EVNSPC will restore the power supplying ability of existing power system, replacing the whole battery system.
In 2018, EVNSPC will coordinate with the authorities – Brigade 146 and Battalion DK1 to evaluate the power demand in the islands, and from there invest in new power system to ensure power supply 24/24 hours in the islands.
According to the plan, EVNSPC will assess all equipment with large energy consumption and devise the alternative plan for them, implement the operational solutions as well as using propagandas to save electricity, helping to increase capacity and performance of electric devices on the islands.
Reporter: thank you!
