How was Ash and Slag of the Haiphong Thermal Power Plant  processed?

With the energy supplied to the national power system of 7.2 billion kWh per year, the total volume of ash and slag discharged by 2 the two Hai Phong Thermal Power Plants No 1 and No 2 is about 1 million tons/year. Explaining the disposal of ash and slag of the two power plants that used to be the “headache problem” of the company leader, Mr. Tran Huu Nam, the Chairman of the Hai Phong Thermal Power Company said,  the annual discharge of 150 tons of slag of the boiler bottom and  850 tons of fly ash was a difficult problem when the ash pond was only 6 hectares, enough for the operation of the power plants in 10 years. wide thermoelectricity joint stock company said, with the volume of discharged each year about 150,000 tons of furnace bottom slag and 850,000 tons of ash bay is really the "difficult problem" when waste slag dump area near 6 ha enough for active plants within 10 years.

Since the Government and the Ministry of  Industry and Trade made decisions of implementing a number of solutions using ash, slag and plaster of the power plants as  raw materials for construction materials, Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock company has seeked the customers and partners to consume ash and slag.

 There are 6 customers who signed the contracts with the Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock company to consume most of ash and slag discharged from the two power plants. Specifically, for the ash, Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock company delivered all 4 cyclos to 4 consumers. The fly ash was transferred by the tank trucks, sprayed and washed   before leaving the power plants so as not to disperse ahs into the environment. Also for the boiler bottom slag, two consumers signed the contracts to supply raw materials for the cement factories.

Mr. Tran Huu Nam affirmed, the disposal of ash and slag of the Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock company is no longer a matter of concern. To strengthen the  environmental protection, in the power plants as well as the surrounding area, the ash and slag discharge system of the two  Haiphong 1 and 2 power plants were designed for hydraulic type and closed water circulation system. Ash and slag from the power plants was transported to the ash pond in an enclosed pipeline system; ash pond was designed with waterproof bottom lining fabrics to prevent endosmosis.

In addition, the company planted casuarina  around the ash pond; installed  an automatic water spray systems to avoid flying ashes scattering into the air. The Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock company   also opened the door to welcome people into visiting, monitoring production operations as well as  treatment of ash and  slag of the plant. After the tour, the company has recorded minutes of meeting minutes and  collected survey form from  the people.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Tam, Director  of Administration Department, Industrial Safety Techniques and   Environment Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Hai Phong Thermal Power Joint Stock company    is one of the typical enterprises who has the best solutions for ash and slag processing.
