The first unit of Vinh Tan 4 thermal power plant successfully connected to the national grid

According to Power Generation Corporation No.3 (EVNGENCO 3), at 17:35 on July 13th, 2017, The first unit of the Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant Project successfully connected for the first time into the national grid, 32 days earlier than planned. This is an important milestone to complete the testing and put this unit into commercial operation by the end of 2017.

According to EVNGENCO 3, environmental protection systems such as: FGD desalination system with seawater - ESP Electrostatic precipitator has been put into operation since the burning of the furnace, ensuring the environmental protection during the test as well as when the plant being put into operation.

Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant Project was built in Vinh Tan Commune, Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province by Vietnam Electricity, EVNGENCO3/ Vinh Tan Thermal Power Management Board is the project management unit. This is one of the key projects of the Government.

With a total installed capacity of 1,200 MW (2 units), Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant is the first large-scaled coal-fired power plant in Vietnam using supercritical boiler technology).

According to the plan, the unit which has just been successfully connected to the national grid will be put into commercial operation by the end of 2017, with the remaining units expected to operate in Quarter 2 of 2018. The plant will be connected to the national grid via a 500kV grid.

After completion, Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant will generate about 7.2 billion kWh per year to the power system, contributing to ensuring electricity supply for the socio-economical development of Binh Thuan province in particular and the Southern provinces in general.
