Launching “Innovative Startups for Energy Efficiency Competition”

The total prize value of the competition is up to USD 35,000 for startup businesses and USD 10,000 for startup student groups.

On the morning of August 19, in Da Nang, within the framework of the National Conference on Energy Efficiency and Conservation 2024, the National Conference on Sustainable Production and Consumption 2024, Department of Energy Conservation and Sustainable Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in coordination with the Global Green Growth Institute in Vietnam and related units launched the “Innovative Startups for Energy Efficiency Competition”.

Sharing about the “Innovative Startups for Energy Efficiency Competition”, Mr. Juher Kim, National Representative of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), said that the competition is within the framework of the project “Accelerating Innovative Start-ups for Energy Efficiency” (AIS4EE) under the Vietnam - EU Sustainable Energy Transition Program (SETP) funded by the European Union to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The AIS4EE project is co-funded and implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) - an international intergovernmental organization established based on the treaty to promote green growth globally. This is the first startup accelerator program held in Vietnam specifically for energy efficiency.

The competition activities are carried out by Touchstone Partners investment fund. The competition includes two parts, part one is for startup businesses (Startup Track), and part two is designed specifically for groups of students (Youth Track) between the ages of 15 - 25.

Participating teams must research energy-saving solutions for industry, construction, and transportation, in accordance with the goals of the National Energy Efficiency Program 2019-2030 (VNEEP3) and submit applications to the Organizing Committee. Selected ideas will participate in a 9-week coaching and training program, led by experts and advisors in the fields of startups and energy.

The “Innovative Startups for Energy Efficiency Competition” accepts online registration applications through the portal https://ais4ee.vn for start-up businesses and student groups from now to September 25, 2024.

The total prize value of the competition is up to USD 35,000 for startup businesses and USD 10,000 for startup student groups. In addition, teams have the opportunity to participate in domestic and international capital-raising events from venture capital funds, including investments from Touchstone Partners and potential investments from partner investment funds.
