May 2017: The maximum average electricity price reached VND 1,255/kWh

The electricity market price in May 2017 maintains at a high level because electricity supply sources are mainly from coal fired thermal power plants and gas turbines and combined cycle gas turbine plants.

In details, the average price of electricity procured from power plants at dealing times fluctuates in the range of VND 1,070 – 1,255 per kWh (not including power system losses).

In the week during May 22 – 28, 2017 alone, the average price of electricity procured from power plants reaches the highest rate in the month at VND 1,255 per kWh, despite the fact that generation output sourced from hydropower plants increases, rising by 14.2% against the lowest week in the month (from May 15 – 21, 2017).

The transmission charge in proportion to power sales is VND 104 per kWh; the distribution and retail selling charge in proportion to power sales is VND 292.11 per kWh; the ancillary and overhead cost in proportion to power sales is VND 7.32 per kWh.

In May 2017, the power output of the entire power system amounts to 17.05 billion kWh, the maximum daily output reached 594.3 million kWh, the maximum daily capacity reached 28,078 MW (on May 4, 2017). The power system operates stably.
