Modern metering system: “Digital steps”

Developing from mechanical meters to electronic meters and now electronic telemetry ones; innovation from manual power indexing, to automate the collection of data on computers and then analysis and exploitation of electricity index data through applications, software, "digital steps" have helped Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to make a fundamental change in business and customer service.

Electronic meters, digital data

In the first 6 months of 2021 only, Quang Binh Power Company has inspected, detected and handled more than 2,700 electricity use violations, surpassing 45% of the plan of the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) assigned for 2021. In TP. In Da Nang, daily telemetry data is not only provided to people for controlling the amount of power consumed by the households but also helps the electricians to quickly localize abnormal cases in electricity use. Many cases of short-circuit after the meter, electric leakage in the customer's electrical system were promptly detected and handled by the sector, thereby, avoiding unfortunate electrical accidents in households. From the effectiveness of the "Abnormal power indicator warning application" of Da Nang Electricity One-Member Limited Liability Company, EVN has upgraded and integrated into the Customer Management Information System (CMIS) and replicated throughout the whole Group in 2021.

Or in Hanoi, the widespread deployment of apps on mobile devices like EVNHANOI and E-point has really created a "New Summer" for both power users and suppliers. Thanks to successfully exploiting data from distance meters, these apps have provided a clear and accurate indicator of the daily power consumption of each household. Therefore, people have a clear understanding of power consumption, reducing unnecessary doubts and questions about electricity indicators and electricity bills in the peak summer months. Applications exploiting telemetry meter data have become a bridge for electricity buyers and sellers to understand and share any related information with each other.

EVN and customers both control the daily electricity index

To ensure the efficiency and accuracy of data exploitation, the electricity index is strictly managed by the Electricity of Vietnam from the "input" stage. According to EVN’s Business Department, EVN shall manage all indicators of more than 29 million meters on CMIS software, without manual data recording, entry and calculation.

For electronic meters with telemetry, the readings are automatically updated daily for CMIS to calculate invoices. According to the digital transformation roadmap that is being implemented by EVN, the Electricity units will proceed to exploit big data on the electricity usage behavior of more than 100 million people through more than 29 million smart electronic meters, combined with partners in the spirit of "sharing economy", to create more value as well as better serve electricity customers
