Quang Tri currently has 33 power plants and 151 rooftop solar power systems in operation with a total capacity of 1,119.5 MW.
In the period 2024 - 2025, it is expected that 4 wind power plants with a total capacity of 156MW and 7 hydropower plants with a total capacity of 93MW will come into commercial operation. The whole province currently has 128 km of 220kV transmission lines, and two 220kV substations Dong Ha and Lao Bao. As of April 2024, Quang Tri Power Company manages and operates 335.21km of 110kV lines; 8 110kV substations; 2,160.3km of medium voltage lines; 2,357 load substations; 3,948km of low voltage lines; and 217,143 electricity customers.
EVN delegation works with Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee
As for power grid investment and construction in Quang Tri, during 2021-2023, EVNCPC invested VND 467 billion to complete four 110kV power grid projects with a scale of 55.5km and 65MVA; Quang Tri Power Company implemented investment and construction of medium and low voltage power grids throughout the province with a total cost of VND 421 billion. The total investment cost to develop the power infrastructure in the province in the past period was VND 888 billion.
In 2024, the expected investment cost of power projects in Quang Tri province is VND 131.8 billion. According to the implementation plan of Power Development Plan No.8, about 4,405MW of power generation from 3 thermal power plants and renewable energy sources is scheduled to be developed in Quang Tri during the period 2023-2030.
Regarding the electricity supply situation, in recent times, Quang Tri Power Company under EVNCPC has secured electricity supply for the province with increasingly improved quality and services. In particular, the average growth of power sales of the province during 2021-2023 was 6.93%/year; power sales in 2023 reached 830 million kWh; in the first 4 months of 2024, the cumulative power sales achieved 257.2 million kWh, an increase of 9.94% over the same period in 2023. Total electricity savings in the province are estimated at 17.583 million kWh, equivalent to an increase of 2.13 % compared to total power sales in 2023.
EVN’s Vice President Pham Hong Phuong kindly requests Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee to enhance communication to encourage local people, businesses, and public agencies to practice electricity saving and protect safety of power grid projects.
It is forecasted that in the dry season of 2024, nationwide electricity consumption demand will likely increase. The EVN leader kindly requested the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to enhance communication to encourage local people, businesses, and public agencies to apply electricity-saving solutions for using electricity economically and effectively according to the direction of the Prime Minister in Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated June 8, 2023; proposing the Provincial People's Committee to establish an interdisciplinary inspection mission on the electricity consumption of customer groups according to Directive 20/CT-TTg; protecting the safety of power grid projects; directing departments, agencies, local authorities to coordinate with the power sector in realizing the PDP8, supporting conversion of land use purposes, compensation for site clearance, and speeding up investment policy approval procedures to deploy power grid projects on schedule.
