On June 4th, a delegation from the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), led by Mr. Cao Quang Quynh – Member of the Board of Directors, held a working session with the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) on power safety, business operations, and customer service during the peak period of 2026.

Reporting at the meeting, EVNSPC stated that in the first five months of 2026, the unit continued to comprehensively and decisively implement numerous solutions to ensure a safe, continuous power supply, meeting the needs of socio-economic development in the Southern region.

In May 2026, EVNSPC recorded a peak load capacity of 11,109MW, an increase of 6.64% compared to the same period last year; power received reached 6.47 billion kWh, an increase of 9.24%; cumulative electricity received for the first 5 months of 2026 reached 29.35 billion kWh, an increase of 6.66% compared to that of the same period in 2025.

To ensure power safety during peak periods, closely following the national electricity system's operating method, EVNSPC has proactively allocated available capacity to member units, and at the same time developed response plans in case of imbalance in power safety and demand. To date, the entire EVNSPC has not witnessed a case of exceeding the allocated available capacity and has not had to perform load reduction.

In addition, EVNSPC continues to aggressively implement electricity demand management programs. By the end of May 2026, EVNSPC had signed power-saving agreements with 9,218 customers with power consumption of 500,000kWh or more, achieving nearly 97% of the targeted plan. The Demand Response (DR) program has been completed with agreements signed with 5,371 customers, creating the potential to reduce power consumption by more than 815MW when needed.

EVNSPC is stepping up load shifting/DR (Demand Response) activities during peak period of 2026.

Regarding power saving efforts, EVNSPC as a whole saved more than 1.05 billion kWh in the first five months of the year, equivalent to 4.42% of commercial power output. In addition, rooftop solar power for self-production and self-consumption continues to develop with 2,122 sources under management, totaling over 502MWp.

In business operations and customer service, the call response rate at the hotline 19001006 - 19009000 reached 96.2%; 100% of complaints related to electricity bills and increased power consumption were resolved in accordance with regulations. EVNSPC also strengthened proactive communication efforts, guiding people on efficient and economical electricity use, contributing to raising community awareness, and ensuring stable power safety during the 2026 dry season.

Mr. Cao Quang Quynh – Member of EVN Board of Directors – delivering directive speech at working session.

Giving the key notes at the meeting, Board Member Cao Quang Quynh and Vice President Ngo Son Hai emphasized the need to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power system amidst continuously increasing load demand.

EVN leaders requested the Corporation to continue promoting load shifting, conducting detailed reviews of each customer and load group, reducing pressure during peak hours, and improving system operational efficiency. In particular, it is necessary to closely monitor the load from electric vehicle charging stations and proactively propose appropriate adjustment solutions to minimize the impact on peak load.
