Power unit H5 of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant has been put into operation since 1992. Through inspection, defects of the turbine runner have been detected, making the unit operation exposed to high risk. The project has been implemented by EVNPSC, based on EVN’s authorization, accordingly, EVNSPC has performed procurement, and all the construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities have been accomplished by EVNSPC themselves. Hoa Binh Hydropower Company has undertaken installation supervision consulting services and taken over the project for operation management.

The project’s emulation movement has been launched since January 27, 2023. All the replacement, and installation works of the project have been performed by engineers and workers of the power sector, being an important milestone demonstrating the self-reliance in renovating large hydropower units.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union - Mr. Do Duc Hung emphasized: The project is not only meaningful in economic terms but also shows the role of the trade unions in relevant units in coordinating with the professional units to launch and organize emulation movements.
