Reporter: Why is the Van Phong - Vinh Tan 500kV transmission line project considered a key project?
Mr. Bui Van Kien: This is an urgent project, meeting the capacity transmission target of Van Phong Power Center (including Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant), Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant and capacity of renewable energy sources in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces to enter the national power system. After being completed, the project contributes to ensuring power supply to the South, creating a strong connection between the central power system and the South, optimizing the operation of the national power system.
The project is invested with a new construction scale of a 500kV dual-circuit line of about 172.5km long with the starting point at 500kV busbar of distribution yard of Van Phong 1 BOT 500kV power plant and the endpoint at the busbar of Vinh Tan 500kV Transformer Station. In addition, the project also constructs and installs other equipment to ensure the most effective operation management after its completion.
The direction of the line has been agreed for the second time by the provincial People's Committees in December 2019 (Ninh Thuan province) and December 2020 (Khanh Hoa province).
Reporter: When can the new project be commenced, sir?
Mr. Bui Van Kien: According to the committed progress with the investor of the Van Phong 1 BOT power plant, this project shall be completed in 2022.
Currently, EVNNPT is in the process of selecting construction contractors, it is expected that if there are no new arising problems, it will sign the contract and commence the project in the second quarter of 2021.

Reporter: If the project is commenced in the second quarter of 2021, the construction time is only about 1.5 years. What solutions does EVNNPT take to ensure the completion of the project, sir?
Mr. Bui Van Kien: To ensure progress, leaders of EVN/EVNNPT will directly direct thoroughly the project implementation.
EVNNPT has set up a Steering Committee for Projects synchronously with Van Phong 1 BOT power plant, directly led by EVNNPT's General Director. The Director of the Central Vietnam Power Projects Management Board (CPMB) will directly operate regularly at the construction site during the sprint period. CPMB will establish 2 Forward Divisions in Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces to manage the project.
For site clearance compensation, EVNNPT/CPMB has worked with local authorities to report on the situation, requesting local leaders to direct related units to perform immediate coordination when gaining measurement records.
