Energizing the 500kV Transmission Line Project Phase 1 connecting Nghi Son 2 Power Plant to the national power system

At 10:55 am on 26 March 2021, the Vietnam Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) in coordination with related units successfully energized the 500kV Transmission Line Project Phase 1 connecting Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant (TPP) to the national power system.

The 500kV Transmission Line Project Phase 1 connecting Nghi Son 2 BOT TPP has been successfully energized

The 500kV transmission line project connecting Nghi Son 2 BOT TPP includes installation of 39.6km of two 500kV double-circuit lines with 219 locations, connecting Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant (Thanh Hoa) with Nho Quan-Ha Tinh 500kV transmission line circuit 1 and circuit 2; at the same time, installation of transposition towers on existing 500kV lines circuit 1 and circuit 2.

These are urgent grid projects approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 428/QD-TTg dated 18 March 2016 on the National Power Development Plan (NPDP) for the period 2011-2020 with a vision to 2030 (NPDP VII), with the goal of transmitting electricity from this plant into the national power system; enhancing operational stability and safety of the northern power system in particular and the national power system in general.

CPMB is making effort to coordinate with local authorities in solving problems in site clearance and compensation to strive to complete the entire project in May 2021.

The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed and operated by CPMB. The project was commenced on 9 April 2018, crossing Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces.
