Nha Be 500kV substation reinforced to 1,800MVA

At 2:15 on 11 May 2022, in Phuoc Kien commune, Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City, the Southern Power Project Management Board (SPMB) in coordination with related units successfully inspected, accepted and energized to replace AT6 transformer (from 600MVA to 900MVA) at Nha Be 500kV substation under the reinforcement project of  Nha Be 500kV substations.

The reinforcement project of  Nha Be 500kV substations is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), SPMB on behalf of EVNNPT operates and manages the project, Power Transmission Company 4 will take over and manage the operation when the project is completed.

The project has scaled to increase the capacity of  Nha Be 500kV substation with AT6 and AT7 transformers from 2x600MVA to 2x900MVA.  

Previously, on 14 December 2021, the AT7 transformer at Nha Be 500kV substation was successfully inspected, accepted and energized after reinforcing its capacity from 600MVA to 900MVA.

Thus, after successfully reinforcing, Nha Be 500kV substation has a total capacity of 1,800MVA.

The completion of the project helps ensure power supply for the load and meet the needs of promoting socio-economic development for Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas. The completion of the project helps to enhance the connectivity, safety, stability and flexibility in the operation of the power system in the South region, improves the reliability and safety of the power supply and contributes to ensuring the N-1 criterion, especially contributing to the economic development of the southern region of the Ho Chi Minh City (new residential areas, new industrial zones and regional port authorities).
