Online electricity service to be integrated with the National Public Service Portal

On 18 July 2019, the working group of the Department of Administrative Procedure Control, the Government Office worked with Vietnam  Electricity (EVN) to survey, connect and integrate the online electricity services with the National Public Service Portal.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hung Hue – the Head of the Department of Administrative Procedure Control of the economic sector, the Department of Administrative Procedures Control, the National Public Service Portal will be put into operation from November 2019 as approved by the Prime Minister.

EVN is selected to connect online electricity service to the Portal right at the launching phase. One of the main reasons for the selction is that the Group has made efforts to improve the quality of customer service, facilitating the people and contributing to the improvement of the business environment in Vietnam over the past year. 

The delegation of the Department also acknowledged that, in recent years, EVN has been proactively and effectively implementing "inter-agency one-stop- shop", bringing the electricity services to public administrative centers and local online service information portals.

Although it is not a public service provider, EVN always follows up the standards of public services to constantly enhance and improve the electricity services – EVN’s Deputy General Director Vo Quang Lam said. Currently, EVN's electricity services are available for online provision, connection to the national public service portal.

For the first stage of operating the Portal, EVN proposed the Government Office to give priority to implementing the connection of online medium-voltage power supply services, thereby contributing to facilitating businesses to access electric power.

EVN will calibrate and upgrade the communication systems to ensure the service provision through the Portal.

EVN's customer service innovation was begun in 2015. By December 2018, the Group provided the online electricity services at the level equivalent to the level-4 public services. Only in the first 6 months, EVN has served more than 17,500 online level-4 transactions as per customer requirements. 

Besides, EVN also offers a variety of forms of bill payment, cooperation with banks and intermediary organizations, accelerating non-cash payments.

Objectives of the National Public Service Portal Project:

- Improving the quality and efficiency of public service provision of state agencies, ensuring better service for people and businesses.

 Towards digitizing records and documents; switching to using electronic records, documents, transactions and providing public services regardless of time and place.

- Promoting administrative reform through the application of information technology; improving Vietnam's position on the online public service under the United Nations E-Government Development Index (EGDI).
