Operating situation in May 2021 and goals and tasks in June 2021

The power output of the whole system in May 2021 reached 23.98 billion kWh, reaching 104% of the plan. The accumulated for 5 months reached 104.66 billion kWh, increasing by 7.3% over the same period last year. In which, the mobilizing rate of some main sources is as follows:

+ Hydropower reached 24.01 billion kWh, an increase of 52.7% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 22.9% of the total power output of the whole system.

+ Coal-fired thermal power reached 54.13 billion kWh, decreasing by 6.8% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 51.7% of the total power output of the whole system.

+ Gas-fired turbines reached 13.28 billion kWh, decreasing by 16.8% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 12.7% of the total power output of the whole system.

+ Renewable energy (wind power, solar power, biomass power) reached 12.35 billion kWh, an increase of 159.5% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 11.8% of the total power output of the whole system (solar power alone reached 11.48 billion kWh, an increase of nearly 3 times over the same period).

+ The mobilization of oil-fired thermal power is in significant, reaching 02 million kWh.

+ Imported power amount reached 556 million kWh, decreasing by 67% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 0.5% of the total power output of the whole system.

The commercial power output of EVN in May 2021 is estimated at 19.67 billion kWh, up 15.4% compared to that in May 2020. The accumulated 5 months reached 90.51 billion kWh, increasing by 8.51% over the same period in 2020.

In particular, at the end of May 2021, the Northern and Central provinces experienced a period of extreme heat when the temperature in many places was higher than 40oC, causing a sudden increase in power consumption. National power consumption on 31 May 2021 is 850.3 million kWh with a peak capacity of 41,549MW. The date of 1 June 2021 continued to set a new record with nationwide power consumption of 880.3 million kWh, an increase of nearly 25% compared to that of the same period in 2020 and an increase of more than 15% compared to the average level of the previous week.

Regarding business and customer services: In the first 5 months of 2021, the rate of customers paying electricity bills in cashless form reached 69.85%; the percentage of electricity bills paid in cashless form of the whole EVN reached 90.95%.

For provision of electricity services in the first 5 months of 2021, Power Corporations have received over 3.92 million inquiries, of which the ones received directly at customer transaction offices accounts for only 0.65%; the remaining 3.9 million inquiries (equivalent to 99.35%) were received through the Customer Contact Center and the Center for National Public Administration. The number of receptions at the National Public Service Portal only reached nearly 392,000, equivalent to 55.63% of the total number of inquiries for EVN services and all documents were made sync to the Portal.

Regarding construction investment, as accumulated in the first 5 months of 2021, 40 works have been commenced; completed energizing 49 110-500kV grid projects, in which important grid projects have been energized, including: My Tho - Duc Hoa 500kV transmission line, Pha Lai 220kV transmission line branching to Hai Duong, energizing transformer 2 of Thanh Nghi 220kV substation, energizing and renovating the Hoc Mon - Ba Queo 110kV line (Binh Tan - Ba Queo section) and handing over 100% of the Doc Soi - Pleiku 2 500kV line (belonging to the 500kV line project, circuit 3).

Since the end of April 2021, many new COVID-19 outbreaks have appeared in many provinces/cities, EVN has donated VND400 billion for the COVID-19 vaccine fund. The total amount of money that EVN and its member units have contributed and supported for provinces and cities heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as supporting the health sector's pandemic prevention and control activities. The 4th pandemic alone is nearly VND408 billion.

Some work tasks in June 2021

In June 2021, the average daily power consumption of the whole system is expected to be 799 million kWh/day, the largest load capacity is estimated at 41,556MW.

Power system operation target in June 2021:

- Continue to perform well the dual task of ensuring the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic, while ensuring the power supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's daily life.

- Exploite power sources to ensure optimal concurrent hydropower - thermopower; mobilizing hydropower with water, ensuring water supply for downstream localities.

- Power Generation Corporations ensure the highest availability of power units in the dry season months of 2021.

- Perform safe and reliable operation of the transmission grid, especially the North-South 500kV system.

Regarding investment and construction: Urging the units to overcome difficulties in construction due to the impact by the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the progress of power source works and the progress of energizing key-point grid projects; striving to complete energizing the Doc Soi - Pleiku 2 500kV transmission line (belonging to the 500kV project, circuit 3) and the 500kV line connecting with Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant, etc.

In addition, in June 2021, EVN continues to direct its units to perform well the power supply in the dry season, and at the same time, directs Power Corporations/Companies to prepare adequate human resources and facilities, strengthen 24/24h response to deal with and promptly handle local overload situations, promptly handle incidents, continue to make efforts to ensure power supply for customers.
